But... what if she never met Braden and Ellie Carmichael on that fateful day when she was only twenty-two years old?
Stars Over Castle Hill A Joss and Braden Novella eBook Samantha Young
Oh Samantha... You have literally obliterated other couples for me all over again. I recall feeling this very same way when I wrapped up On Dublin Street five years ago. I remember being so emotionally pulled into their story I couldn't get myself to read any other books for awhile afterwards. I re-read On Dublin Street over and over and over again afterwards. I was so curious how you'd pull this "alternate reality" bit with the novella - you freakin evil genius you! (Yes, rub your hands in glee woman). In a span of three hours you ripped my heart out for these two characters all over again. #woosah... Joss and Braden - literally my most favorites of all time. Not to dismiss any of your other characters or any of my other favorite books on... but there is just an *other* about their story. You brought that magic again with the novella, heart clenched up, tears burning my eyes, magic all over again. Yes, you are an evil genius indeed. <3Product details

Stars Over Castle Hill A Joss and Braden Novella eBook Samantha Young Reviews
Wow! So well done that when I was reading it I had Paula Costello's (the narrator from the first book) voice in my head doing Joss' snarky bran of humor and speech inflections.
The only downside was that it was too short to show how the other couples got together, and how the whole "Tribe" fared with the alternate storyline. Braden and Joss were such a big part of the entire series that without the dynamic-duo I worry about which couples did not get together in the end...
GREAT WRITING SAMANTHA YOUNG! You, once again, took me back there and made it real. Please don't ever stop!!
First off, I would highly recommend you read On Dublin Street before reading this short story. It will make much more sense.
Fate. If you are truly meant to be with someone, fate seems to have a way of making that happen.
This short story takes us on one of those alternate journeys. What would Joss and Braden's lives have been like if they had not met that day when they shared a cab? What if they met eight years later. How would their lives, and the lives of their friends and family be different?
No matter which journey your physical self takes, your heart and soul knows where you need to be. And fate will step in to make that happen.
I loved all of the tiny little details from On Dublin Street are woven into this story. How the other couples still end up with their fated partners.
There can never be enough written about Braden and Joss. I was so, so happy to stumble upon this novella about them. But, like Braden sorta felt, it wasn't always comfortable to read. As usual with Samantha Young's novels, I laughed, I cried, I was anxious and I was in love with the characters. Her books touch me to the core. It'd be so cool if she would write a book about Beth, Luke and Ellie growing up with their parents, and especially when Beth gets married and Braden must give her away....but, so too does Joss have to "give" her away. I can only imagine what a novel about the good and not so good of raising their family would be like. WONDERFUL!!!! Thank you Samantha Young for gifting us with you talent. Truly.
Stars Over Castle Hill is a novella written by Joss based on the premise that her and Braden meet later in life, but the connection is there and meant to be. There are different hurdles to cross since they are older and had different life experiences.
I can't get enough of Joss and Braden, and I really enjoyed this novella! I've read all of the On Dublin Street Series books, many of them more than twice, and I was happy to see this one available for download. I'd like to believe that no matter what twists and turns life gives us, we intersect with the one we are supposed to. This novella's what if line of thought reminds me of the film Sliding Doors, where one storyline she makes the train and the other she doesn't.
So good. Seriously, so good. The first version of this story was what hooked me to this author in the first place. I cracked it open at a library to take a gander and ended up sitting down and reading it for two hours through. I'm a half and half on the merits of HEA's, but Samantha Young will chip away at you with the first version of Joss and Braden's story. This book is the second version, the hypothetical of if they had met years later instead? If they were in different places in their lives than the first time, and still met, would they still have ended up in the same place? Don't be afraid of the endgame, that's what I took from this. This couple fought for what they have, and Joss fought for herself. She fought to make herself understand and know that truly, she deserves to be happy and to have everything she didn't even know she had wanted. And the sexy Scotsman she married and had babies with? Damn you Samantha Young, you might have made me a romantic with the modern day Jamie Fraser. This is the kind of endgame love without drama and without shake ups that give you hope for life outside of the written world.
A wonderful novella that highlights once again the strong love between Joss and Braden Carmichael. A successful writer with an extremely happy home life, Joss is asked to write a "what if" kind of story. I loved how she stepped out of the comforts of what her settled and joyous family life gives her to wonder what if she didn't answer that ad so many years ago as a stranger in Edinburgh and didn't have what she adores now.
To be able to see your life in a different way may have unsettled her devoted husband, but Braden only comfirms (even as a different man in Joss's creative mind) just how much he is in love with his wife. He knows how precious and how lucky he is and only a man who is truly comfortable in his own skin could read his wife's fictional tales.
I was beyond happy to revisit with one of my favorite couples ever and Samantha Young did a great job giving us just a little bit more.
A solid 5 stars!
